Equal Education For All - SEN and Inclusion EPV Approved Summer Course for Teachers

This course, written by Aoife Breslin, is designed to equip teachers with the knowledge and practical strategies necessary to foster inclusive classrooms that support all learners.

Participants will explore the evolution of special education in Ireland, examining key policies and frameworks that have shaped current practice.

The course highlights the importance of collaborative in-class support and provides practical examples to aid in its effective implementation. A significant focus is placed on supporting the meaningful inclusion of neurodivergent pupils, including those with autism, in mainstream classrooms—ensuring that all students feel respected, understood, and fully included.

Throughout the course, educators will engage with the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) framework, exploring how strength-based and learner-centred approaches can enhance learning experiences for all. The course also explores how the Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE) curriculum can promote belonging and celebrate diversity across the school community.

By engaging in collaborative discussions and reflecting on professional experiences, participants will gain insights into how to build a whole-school culture rooted in inclusion, equity, and respect for learner difference.

This course is ideal for primary school teachers, special needs assistants, and education professionals committed to advancing inclusive education practice in their schools.
