
Course Structure
20 hours of learning. Participants must complete 10 hours of online learning and 10 self-verified hours (module exercises, resources, discussion forum and reflective learning log). Technical Support provided.
Compulsory elements - 2 discussion forum posts per module, Reflective Learning assignment, creation of personal learning record. You must complete the required time on the course before certificate can be issued.

Certification/EPV Days
All Anokha Learning Sumer Courses for Teachers have been approved by the Department of Education & Skills for EPV Certification. Start and completion dates printed on your Cert.
EPV days awarded as follows:
1 course – 3 EPV days, 2 courses – 4 EPV days , 3 courses – 5 EPV days
If you buy two or more courses you must only complete one course at a time.

Duration
For 2025 our courses will commence on Tuesday 1st July and all courses must be completed by 5 pm on Friday 18th July. If you buy two or more courses you must only complete one course at a time. As per the DES criteria you must complete the required time on the course and your start and completion dates will be printed on your Cert for your EPV days.
Course Modules
Explore what inclusion truly means in the Irish education system. This module provides an overview of the history of special education and inclusion in Ireland, introduces key national policies and documents, and invites participants to reflect on their own understanding of inclusion through practical assignments.
This module introduces the Universal Design for Learning framework, highlighting the power of high expectations and strength-based teaching. Through a child profile exercise, participants will explore practical ways to support diverse learners in mainstream classrooms.
Dive into the practicalities of inclusive planning. This module examines the different categories of need, offers guidance on developing Student Support Files, and helps educators create targeted strategies based on pupil profiles through a hands-on mini case study.
Examine how inclusion can be embedded across the whole school community. This module focuses on the Inclusive Education Framework, the role of pupil voice, and how SSE can drive inclusive practice. Participants assess their own school’s inclusion practices and identify areas for growth.
Discover effective models of in-class and team teaching, with a focus on early years through initiatives like Aistear and Ready Set Go Maths. Participants engage in meaningful discussions about the benefits and challenges of implementing in-class support in their own settings.
About Aoife Breslin
Aoife Breslin has 14 years of teaching experience across a wide range of educational contexts, including small rural multi-grade schools and urban DEIS settings. She holds a Master’s degree in Special Education (2013–2015), with her thesis focusing on perceptions of inclusion in mainstream education. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership and Management.
Aoife has a special interest in special education and inclusion. She has worked extensively as both a mainstream class teacher and a Special Education Teacher, including in special classes for pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Her work in various schools has exposed her to diverse approaches to inclusive education. She also led her school’s participation in the NCSE Inclusive Education Framework Initiative, reflecting her commitment to advancing inclusive practice in schools.
